Some Things You Might Not Know About Me

1) I hiccup. A lot. An unnatural amount really.
Usually my hiccups are singular and they are so loud and sudden that they end up startling the puppy, the husband and myself.

2) My desert hierarchy is as follows:
Pie < Ice Cream < Cupcakes < Cake < Cookies.
Cookies always win.

3) My first job was at Target and I have never worn red and khaki together since then.
Never ever.

4) If I ever get a tattoo, it will be a quote from my favorite book 'East of Eden' by John Steinbeck.

5) I prefer to sleep at a diagonal angle across the bed much to my husband's dismay.

6) I took five years of French along with one year of Italian in college and all I got from it was how to spot anything with fromage (cheese) on the menu and how to ask for the 'water closet' (bathroom).

7) When I was 17, I pierced my belly button like four hours before an eight hour flight from Hawaii to San Fran to Denver.
Terrible idea.

8) The foods I love and eat the most are avocados, raspberries, oatmeal, watermelon and kale.
(My husband thinks that this point should just be avocados, avocados, avocados, avocados and avocados).

9) I am terribly skittish around and afraid of balloons and rubber bands.

10) All of my first pets were named after foods.
Oatmeal the cat, Oreo the cat & Smore the beagle.

That time I woke up at 3:30am...

Our Atlanta early morning news show (11Alive Atlanta) had a special episode this week where they came to Decatur, GA and showed all the awesome things that we have to offer.

Like me!

One of the boutiques that I sell at (Homegrown) was asked to be featured on the show so myself, the owners and three other artists showed up to promote the crap out of our store's goods to anyone watching TV at 5:20am.

Let me just tell you.....the day started eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

3:30am is an ungodly hour and when the alarm went off, in my sleepy haze, I apparently squeezed my husband's butt repeatedly until he got out of bed to shut the alarm off.

A girl's got to get her kicks in somehow :)

Anywho, at 4:40am we arrive on the set looking all fine and ready for our big TV debut.

BTW...please excuse the quality of these first few photos. It was 4:40am for goodness sakes and we don't operate well at that time.

There was plenty of lights, cameras and random groups abound. We had gymnasts, a taekwondo group, plenty of little girls dancing, a finalist from this season's of America's Got Talent, bacon donuts and some creature/mascot called 'Bookzilla.'

Our little segment aired around 5:20am and I got to model some of my jewelry for all the television viewers and even though I was on air for about a minute.....

I nailed it.

When deciding what to wear yesterday, I am glad I made the strategic decision to wear the brightest clothes I own. You can't miss me in any of the photos or videos online. I am that one girl who is constantly smiling and wearing a neon yellow top. Genius on my part.

I then spent the next two hours being 'that girl in the back of every shot who is holding two stuffed animals.'

Again....nailed it.

All in all, it was a really fun morning and I loved getting to see all the behind the scenes action that went into the morning show.

Also, we got to take our photos with some of the hosts who were as nice as could be.

Aren't the two owners of Homegrown just adorable (they are the two short ladies in front)!?!

I am trying to find a video of when one of the owners talked on the air and I grinned like a goon behind her, but alas no luck. Hopefully in a few days I can find one.

Since I was dressed and out of the house, we decided to snap some shots of me not wearing yoga pants for once.

And hell yeah, I totally tied my shirt like my mom did when I was in second grade.

My husband directed me to pretend to pick his nose.

Call me Vogue!!

So that was what I did all before 7:15am today. We promptly came home, took ourselves a nap at 8:00am and I squeezed my husband's butt until he woke up.

Home Again...

After spending the past two months on an island, we are back in the city and I have FINALLY unpacked and hung all my clothes back up.

And I have to say....I am missing my island.

Yep, it's mine now.

I got married there, I lived there for a few months so I think I can claim it as my own.

I really can't believe how quickly eight weeks passed by. Seems like just yesterday I was trying to figure out how many tank tops one needs for island living and how much of a tan I could achieve. I was going for Snooki, but left looking more slightly 'sun-kissed.'

In my last week on the island, I hit up a thrift store and scored this little Banana Republic number for $5.00.

What I love most about this dress is that the bottom of it actually has a built in slip, so the jersey fabric doesn't cling and I don't have to worry about showing off too much of my goodies.

(Sidenote: In the above photo, I had to edit out a massive boner on my parent's-in-law pup Bruno. He was  a bit excited for his first photo shoot).

Here are some close ups of the jewelry that I am wearing in the above photos
(click on the photo to be taken directly to the item).

It's good to be back home, but I know that I am not the only one missing island living...

Be prepared for a lot of island living recaps over the next week or so because I have a whole smorgosbord of photos to share.

Crabbing adventures, family visits, beach time, farmer's markets and fort exploring.

Have you guys been enjoying your summer so far?

The color of the season.....

Every spring I remember my love affair that I have for coral clothing. It is so flattering on my pale skin after a winter of hibernating and somehow doesn't make me look as deathly white as I actually am.

I found this dress a few months ago at Target and was pretty darn excited to wear it this past week. After seeing this photos though....I am not so sure about it anymore. I love the sleeves, the color, the print....but I think it looks a bit too frumpy on me and kinda 'poufs' me out.

Um.....needless to say that after viewing/editing this photos....I have a renewed vengeance to get started on my half-marathon training plan and to lose some weight. I will probably have a post about that sometime next week....once I recover from the shock of these photos.....(ps....I am definitely buying a full length mirror at Target).

Outfit Post - Katniss Approved

Yesterday morning I was pouting to my husband that 'The Hunger Games' was finally in theaters and that we weren't going to be able to watch it for about five weeks until his law school finals were over.

Well, being the sweet, super awesome guy he is...he said that he would take the afternoon off from studying so I could go see it. I was so excited, but I didn't think we were going to get tickets since it is pretty much sold out everywhere all weekend.

The odds were in our favor (see what I did there?!) and I found us tickets at a theater about 15 minutes away from our apartment. Squeal!

So I did what any normal 26 year old does when they are going to a movie they are excited for...pay homage to your favorite character by dressing up for the premiere! So here ya go...

Red dress for 'The Girl on Fire.'

I just had to sport her signature side braid.

I didn't have a mockingjay pin, but I thought a little deer pin would be an alright substitute.

Practicing my skills.

So not only was the movie awesome, we had the entire theater to ourselves.

I mean it was opening day...
For the Hunger Games...
And we had the whole theater to ourselves.
How crazy is that??
